There’s something special about spring snow goose season in Quebec. The anticipation, the camaraderie, the wild skies—and this year, we added another unforgettable memory to the books with a two-day guided hunt alongside our partners at La Cache Outfitters.
What made this trip even more exciting? We brought along our latest contest winner, Tony Gambino, for the ride. A lifelong hunter and Nature Tracks fan, Tony joined our crew for a full-on field experience—and we weren’t disappointed.
Wet Conditions, Field-Tested Gear
The early spring fields were soaked after a stretch of rain, but that’s where our scented waterproof shoe covers really proved their worth. Staying dry and masking our scent in those muddy blinds made all the difference. We were proud to see our gear in action, holding up exactly as it should—no leaks, no slipping, keeping our feet dry for the entire two day hunt.
A Harvest to Remember
Over two days, we managed to bring down over 40 birds—a solid haul by anyone’s standards. The bounty was shared evenly between the team, and everyone left with coolers full of meat and smiles to match. We’ll all be eating like kings for the weeks to come.
Our approach to game meat is all about respect and full use. From brined goose breasts and legs to rich neck-based soups, we make sure nothing goes to waste. And of course, our dogs get their share too—legs (with the nails clipped, of course), hearts, livers, and even heads make great high-protein snacks for the hardworking pups that help us scout and retrieve.
Good Stories, Better Company
Beyond the harvest, this trip was about bonding—laughing over early wake-ups, swapping stories in the blind, and watching the teams eyes light up after each round of shooting . There’s nothing quite like being out in the field with good people, good gear, and a sky full of birds.
We’ll be sharing some of our favourite photos from the hunt below, so be sure to scroll through and catch a glimpse of the action.
Until next time—stay dry, stay wild, and keep making memories.
